Montenegro’s most popular summer playground, the Budva Riviera, is all about the glittering sea and summer fun. Paddle boarding, kayaking, paragliding, sailing, fishing, sup adventures, together with good nightlife, make this place magnetic for young people searching for fun.
But Budva is also an ancient settlement, with history and culture that dates back 2,500 years. Cultural events in summer season have made this town one of main cultural centres in the country. Theatre lovers, those who love concerts and literature events, art and music, can enjoy in diverse programs starting from mid-July and finishing by the end of September.
Budva is definitely one of Montenegro’s must-see places.
Lipa cave is the largest cave monument in Montenegro. It is located in Lipa village, 5km from Cetinje, the Old Royal Capital of Montenegro. With its beautiful and wild system of 2.5km of passages and halls, it presents amazing natural attraction that should not be missed while in Montenegro.
Lovcen National Park is the place with great historical significance due to the Mausoleum of Petar Peterovic Njegoš – Montenegrin the most famous ruler, poet and philosopher. The magnificent mausoleum is situated at the top of Lovcen’s second-highest peak, Jezerski Vrh (1657 m above sea level). 461 steps lead to the entry where two granite giants guard the tomb of Montenegro’s greatest writer. Additional reason for visiting Lovcen National park is undoubtedly the best panoramic view of Boka bay.
Tour overview
9:30 – we meet in front of the Main Gate of Budva Old Town and discover this medieval town by taking a walking tour which includes the visit of the most significant sites within the Old Town, among which, the Citadel with Maritime Museum and the Poets Square are the most prominent places in the Old Town. During the summer the Poet Square regularly gathers poets, actors and other artists who participate in literary evenings, concerts and similar events.
After the visit of Old Town Budva, we leave seaside and go to Lipa Cave at altitude of 700m above the sea level. Lipa cave is the largest cave monument in Montenegro. It’s beautiful and wild system of 2.5km of passages and halls, stalagmite and stalactite formations leave everlasting impressions on visitors. The visit of the Cave takes 1h. After the visit of Lipa cave we will make a lunch stop at the well-known national restaurant where you will have opportunity to try national dishes.
The trip continues towards the National Park Lovćen. This region has historical significance since the town of Cetinje used to be Royal Capital of Montenegro. We will visit the Mausoleum of Njegoš – the most famous Montenegrin ruler, poet and philosopher, which is located at 1657m above sea level. You will get the chance to learn about its history, and enjoy the magical views at the bays and sea side from the top, after you climb the famous 461 stairs.
