General info
Budva is a historic coastal town in Montenegro with a rich cultural heritage dating back over 2,500 years, making it one of the oldest settlements on the Adriatic coast. Surrounded by medieval walls, the Old Town is filled with narrow stone streets, charming squares, and historic landmarks that reflect centuries of Illyrian, Roman, and Venetian influence. Today, the Budva Riviera is the center of tourism in Montenegro, stretching along 35 km of coastline with beautiful beaches, crystal-clear waters, luxury hotels, and a vibrant seaside atmosphere. Budva is also known as the nightlife capital of the Adriatic, offering a lively mix of beach bars, open-air clubs, and summer events.
Cetinje is the historic royal capital of Montenegro and an important cultural center. Known as the heart of Montenegrin history and tradition, the town reflects a strong sense of identity and heritage. Founded in the 15th century, Cetinje served for centuries as the political and spiritual center of Montenegro. Today, it is recognized for its rich museum and diplomatic heritage, as well as its elegant architecture from the 19th and early 20th centuries. Located near Mountain Lovćen, Cetinje remains a key destination for understanding the country’s history and development.
Lovcen National Park is the place with great historical significance due to the Mausoleum of Petar Peterovic Njegoš – Montenegrin the most famous ruler, poet and philosopher. The magnificent mausoleum is situated at the top of Lovcen’s second-highest peak, Jezerski Vrh (1657 m above sea level). 461 steps lead to the entry where two granite giants guard the tomb of Montenegro’s greatest writer. Additional reason for visiting Lovcen National park is undoubtedly the best panoramic view of Boka bay.
The Kotor Cable Car offers one of the most impressive panoramic experiences in Montenegro. Connecting the coastal town of Kotor with the slopes of Mountain Lovćen, this modern cable car provides a fast and scenic journey from sea level to the mountains. In just a few minutes, visitors are lifted high above the Bay of Kotor, revealing breathtaking views of medieval towns, winding coastline, and dramatic mountain landscapes.
